Elegant is Easy with Very Versailles

Hello lovelies, yes, I'm back - Surprise!! A few days ago, I made two Birthday cards for my super special friends that I met through Stampin'Up! about 5 years ago...and we are all the best of friends, how lucky am I? Even better, we only live a few minutes away from each other in the Adelaide Hills. I may have never met or known them and lived so close - how sad would have that been?

Anyway, I only took photos of one of the two cards (silly me!) so I will show you...

My friend Nat LOVES Night of Navy, ( if I ever run out of that paper, I know she always has at least two packs spare!) so of course that was the colour palette I chose as well as some Blueberry Bushel.

I used the Very Versailles Cling Stamp Set for all my stamping, except for the Bird I used Free As A Bird Cling Stamp Set. Even though the Cardstock was all Night of Navy, I decided to stamp with Blueberry Bushel and a tiny bit of Pretty Peacock ...

...to get the ombre effect on the background foliage, I put my stamp onto the Pretty Peacock ink, then straight onto the Blueberry Bushel ink pad and then stamped onto a piece of Whisper White that was cut out from the Stitched Rectangle Dies (as was the Night of Navy piece underneath it).

All the Night of Navy foliage was cut out with a retired set, but the Frosted Bouquet Dies would give you a similar effect.

You can see a close up of the sweet little dots I created using the awesome Shimmery Crystal Effects (oh I'm loving that stuff). You will find it under the adhesives in my shop. Just drop a bit onto your paper and let it set and dry for an hour or so. Then it becomes rock hard with a little shimmer to it.

The background script was stamped off first ( stamped onto scrap first) before I stamped on the card base.

The ribbons I used were the Denim Ribbon and the Whisper White Flax Ribbon.

The second card I made for my other lovely friend, Lynne was the very same design but I used Smoky Slate A4 Cardstock instead of the Navy and I stamped with Basic Grey and Rococo Rose ...because she is a Pink gal, just like me!!
