Hello lovelies,
welcome to another wonderful Blog Host thought up by the lovely Kelly Kent.
I'm Sharni Haines from South Australia, I have joined a group of Demonstrators from all over who wish to help us all connect through our art and passion of stamping and paper crafting.
You may have started here or have come from the wonderful and talented Shannon Kissane.
This weeks theme is SUNSHINE! I thought what a wonderful theme, especially since we are heading into Autumn/Winter here, the days have cooled off, our fire is burning and it's a wonderful feeling to have a bit of sunshine coming through...either outside or metaphorically speaking through our art and craft.
I interpreted the theme Sunshine to what makes me feel happy and bright.
Just a few days ago, I received my first box of goodies from my Stampin'Up!® pre order from the new Annual Catalogue! Yah! That was a bit of sunshine for me!
The Catalogue will be launched June 3 - so keep an eye out for it. I have sent all my people (customers) their own personal copy for free and hopefully it has arrived or will soon. x
One of the new products I pre ordered was the Celebrate Sunshine Bundle. Now, I guess the first and most natural instinct would be to create a fabulous card using the new in colour Bumble Bee yellow or another bright yellow/orange...being the theme and so on, (and I did that), but I also wanted to see what this sunflower would look like if it were another colour.
So here it is... a Melon Mambo Sunflower!
To achieve the background, I washed over Old Olive, Pear Pizzazz & Granny Apple Green inks onto a wet piece of Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper using my Aqua Painter.
Once this was dry, I stamped the sentiment repeatedly all over the paper with Soft Suede and the new stamp from Lovely You.
I used the same watercolor technique to colour the background of the flower on watercolour paper using Melon Mambo & Rococo Rose. Then cut out the flower elements with these dies pictured - Sunflowers Dies.
Here you can see my original card using just the Melon Mambo cut out, but I also cut out another floral shape using the new In Colour Magenta Madness.
The stamen was made with Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper and I water coloured it with a bit of Soft Suede & a touch of yellow. Once dry, I coloured the edges with my Stampin' Blends.
This is what I finished up with - Two layers of petals, one Melon Mambo and the top layer the new Magenta Madness Cardstock.
The leaves were Granny Apple Green & Pear Pizzazz.
The very centre is a sparkly piece of retired Orange Shimmery Paper from Halloween.
The Early Espresso Ribbon is also new - Faux Suede Trim and I think I am going to need more of that!
So there we have it, some SUNSHINE heading your way! I hope it made you feel happy and warm!
Thank you for visiting. A massive thank you to Kelly for once again hosting such a fun event. x
Loves & hugs,
