Something from all of Us!

Updated: Jan 30, 2023

Hello lovelies, I hope you are doing ok and feeling well? It's now officially Spring here in Australia and I am soooo happy! (even thought today is pretty windy and cool). I can hear the birds chirping and see all the blossoms and new foliage coming on in my garden. You can just feel it in the air... what a wonderful thought of warmer days, occasional balmy evenings and just the promise of new things to come in my garden and life.

I know I always start my greeting with 'hello lovelies'...just a habit I guess, but before I start my blog, I wanted to show you something quite special and fun...

I was out shopping a few months ago and came across this super cute sign! I just had to have it - not just because of what it says, but also, it's pink and gold!! Squeal!

Anyway, I have it displayed in my craft room and it makes me feel happy every time I see it.

I am sure you have something nice about the place that makes you happy too...if not, then it's time you gave yourself a lovely gift.

I have been having some fun with an old fancy fold favourite of mine and wanted to share it with you. This design is called a Shutter Card and they are so much fun to make. My design fits a 6 1/2"x 6 1/2" (15cm) square envelope).

I used the super cute From All of Us Stamp Set from the annual catalogue. The red polka dot paper is from the Mini Catalogue Trimming the Town Designer Series Paper. (page 25). What is great about this paper is even though it's designed for Christmas, it has some alternative designs that can be applied for other projects like mine.

The base is from Whisper White 12 x12" cardstock and the second layer is Poppy Parade.

You may be able to just see I have altered my design by cutting out a shape in the front opening flaps using the Die from the Hippo and Friends. (p.176)

Hippo and Friends Dies.

When you open only one side of the card, you can see a cheeky little critter looking through at you. I used acetate window sheet to create window finish on both sides of the card opening flaps.

All the animals were coloured in with Stampin' Blends.

As the card is opened, the 'shutter' mechanism opens and reveals a sentiment. This shutter closes when the card is closed. It's a fun surprise for the recipient.

You may see a glossy finish on the top of all the animals, this is the Shimmery Crystal Effects (p.146-147), it's an under used product in my books. It goes on like a thick gel you squeeze through a hole and once dry (takes a while) it forms a hard and glossy finish. It doesn't look as good here but in real life its fabulous.

This card was based on the original card I made for this month's Tutorial Bundle by The Dimensionals...see original below.

Update: you can now purchase this tutorial individually from me (as from mid 2022 The Dimensionals are no longer producing Bundles together).

It is the exact same measurements and technique, except on my red card I added the acetate window sheets to the front flaps.

If you would like the full tutorial and easy to follow instructions on how I made the original BABY BLUE CARD SHOWN IN THE PICTURE ABOVE (in inches and centimeters) as well as 3 other fabulous 3D tutorials, it is available for purchase through our shop. This September Tutorial Bundle theme is Babies & Children, but as you can see, you can adapt our designs to suit any occasion as well as create as many cards as you like over and over again.

Update: you can now purchase this tutorial individually from me (as from mid 2022 The Dimensionals are no longer producing Bundles together).

Well that's all from me today, thanks so much for dropping in, I wish you a fabulous day and don't forget to find some time to do what makes you happy!

love & hugs,
