Hello lovelies,
I am Sharni Haines from South Australia. Welcome to our monthly Sunday Stamping Blog Hop. We get together every 3rd Sunday of the month. This month we are focusing on papers from the Annual Catalogue. We are going to have fun with paper.... Designer Series Papers or other Specialty Papers or even a fun fold. Oh what a choice!
So, I am going to do a little 'teaser' with you. It's pretty obvious what Designer Series Paper I have used..can you remember the name?
It's called 'Les Shoppe' - so French, I love it!
I am hoping you have sort of worked out what I have created here as my major project....
...it took a little time fussy cutting all the shop images out and a few die cuts too, but it was totally worth it when it was time to assemble all the bits together.
So here it is. I am calling it my 3D Shopping Village Collage Sampler.
I took the idea from the classic and ancient technique of Paper Tole.
"Paper Tole is an old art thought to have originated in Venice in the eighteenth century, where three dimensional pieces were created and placed under glass to decorate table tops." Arts Centre Nelson Bay
Well, my artwork isn't under a table top, but it is under a glass frame.
As soon as I saw this DSP in the new Annual Catalogue, I knew exactly what I was going to do with it. I am quite happy my idea worked out. It's like peeking into a mini world.
I have tried to add extra details to every shop image - I have laid extra layers of the same images to make it more 3D, added pot plants, birds, and canopies (die cut) over the doors.
I have also tried to give each shop it's own name. Some names are from the stamps in the Let's Go Shopping Stamp Set and others I just hand wrote onto the stamped sign.
All the images are from Les Shoppes Designer Series Paper, most have been mounted on Foam Adhevisives Strips to give more dimension. I love these strips because they are easy to work with, long and thin and the foam is higher than the Dimensionals.
The birds were stamped & die cut from the Lazy Days Bundle & coloured with Daffodil Delight, Azure Afternoon & Balmy Blue Stampin' Blends.
The benches were die cut with Pecan Pie Cardstock and the lampposts I used Basic Black.
The small green foliage was Granny Apple Green Cardstock.
The trees are from a retired set of dies - but I could not resist using them because they were the right size for this village.
You can see the multi levels I created by adding the same images over the top of the original image using Foam Strip Adhesives.
This collage was created on a sheet of 12 x12" Basic White Cardstock cut to 9-3/4" x 9-3/4" (approx 25 cm square).
I did this particular size so it would fit my picture frame I purchased from IKEA.
For those who are more into making cards, I also created this shopfront design simply using the Les Shoppes Designer Series Paper & the Let's Go Shopping Bundle.
I used the same techniques as the major piece - using the Foam Adhesive Sheets to build up several layers.
The bench was die cut with Pecan Pie Cardstock, one of the new colours. And the greenery was die cut from Granny Apple Green Cardstock.
A simple clean design that can be used for many different occasions.
Did you know that the Les Shoppes Designer Series Paper is currently on sale at 15% off. You can find it in my shop HERE. And anyone who orders this or any other product from me this month, will receive the link to my YouTube Video Tutorial for FREE.
